How To Link Your Instagram To Snapchat Story
Sending links is a basic feature of many apps and messaging platforms. If YouTube videos are what you want to link in Snapchat, then you'll need two things. Download or update your Snapchat and YouTube apps. Here are Google Play Store links for Snapchat and YouTube, and Apple App Store links for Snapchat and YouTube, respectively.
When you install and update the apps using the provided links, you're ready to start linking YouTube videos on Snapchat. Note that the method we're about to show you works for links to other websites as well.
How to Add Links to Snaps
Follow these concise instructions to easily link anything you want to your Snap:
- Start by picking a YouTube video and copying it (it can be a link from another site too). Open the YT app, visit the video you want to link, tap on Share below the video, and select Copy Link.
- Then, you can open the Snapchat app on your iOS or Android device.
- Take a Snap like you normally do. Press the capture circle quickly for a picture, or long-press it for video. When you're done recording, tap the Link button to the right of your screen.
- Next, you need to allow Snapchat access to your clipboard. Just press Allow.
- Insert the YouTube link you've copied before. Long-press the search bar at the top of the screen, and select Paste.
- Finally, press the Attach to Snapchat button at the bottom of your screen. You'll be taken to the YT link window. Now when you can go back you should see Attached at the bottom.
- Go back to your Snap, and the Link icon should be lit up, or highlighted. This is how you know that the YT video is successfully linked to your Snap.
- Press the Send button at the bottom-right to share the Snap with your friends or followers.
Once again, we focused on YouTube videos here, but the process is identical for any other type of link.
How It Looks on the Receiving End
Once you've sent your Snap with the embedded link to the YouTube video, your friends or followers can easily access it. They will either immediately see the link at the bottom of your Snap, or they can tap on the More button (3 dots icon at the top right corner of the snap).
If there's no such button, they need to do the swipe up motion, just like with links on Instagram stories. This will make the link visible and they can simply tap on it to open your YouTube clip. We can't say exactly which of these options will appear on the receiving screens because it depends on the type of device of the receiver is using.
In either case, they should easily get the link, and follow it if they go through the instructions outlined above.
Links Attached
That is how you link a YouTube video to Snapchat. You can do it on all compatible Android and iOS smartphones and tablets. Note that this can also be done in Snapchat stories – it isn't limited to regular Snaps.
We highly recommend using this feature frequently if you're using Snapchat for business. Conversely, if you're using it for fun, you can send music or any other YouTube videos to your friends. Also, you can still add as many stickers and effects to your Snap, just make sure to make some room at the bottom.
